Standards route to compliance
To follow the Standards route to compliance it is important to establish which standards are applicable to a piece of equipment.
The Official Journal provides a list of harmonised standards. Compliance with harmonised standards provides 'presumption of conformity' with the Directive.
There are many "Product Specific Standards" that should be applied to particular products. Some examples are:
- EN55022 - IT Emissions
- EN55024 - IT Immunity
- EN61326 - Measurement, Control and Laboratory Emissions and Immunity
- EN55014 - Domestic Appliance Emissions and Immunity
Generic standards
There is a set of generic standards that are applied to equipment for which product specific standards do not exist. For example:
- EN61000-6-1 Immunity for residential, domestic and light industry
- EN61000-6-2 Immunity for industrial environments
- EN61000-6-3 Emissions for residential, domestic and light industry
- EN61000-6-4 Emissions for industrial environments
